ZiLAN in collaboration with Zimbabwe Smallholder Organic Farmers Forum (ZIMSOFF) commemorated the International Rural Women’s Day on 24 October 2024 in Ward 2 Mwanza Village, Goromonzi District. The event was attended by 106 participants, including men and women. Key stakeholders present included representatives from the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage represented by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), traditional leadership and AGRITEX. The event discussed the importance of traditional seeds in ensuring household food security, the role of women in seed saving, and food sovereignty in line with the theme “Rural Women Cultivating Good Food for All”. The commemorations also aimed raising awareness on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and women’s land rights.
