Zimbabwe Land and Agrarian Network successfully conducted a Traditional Leaders Training on Women’s Land Rights and Environmental Justice in Mutoko (Ward 4) on 20 July 2026. This important event was made possible through our partnership with Zimbabwe Smallholder Organic Farmers Forum (ZIMSOFF) and Environmental Management Agency. The training equipped traditional leaders with knowledge on statutory protections for women’s land rights, gender responsive land governance, and principles of environmental justice. Leaders also discussed the impacts of arbitrary land allocations on wetlands and communal grazing lands, while exploring sustainable land management practices to strengthen climate resilience in rural communities. This initiative marks a significant step towards inclusive, equitable and sustainable land governance, ensuring that women’s rights and environmental protection are safeguarded at the community level.
